La Tana dei Goblin: who are they?

La Tana dei Goblin is a group of free and no profit gaming associations located in Italy and continually growing, founded with the goal of spreading the culture of "intelligent games" with respect to boardgames, card games, roleplaying games and the like. In more than ten years of activity, La Tana dei Goblin (previously known as "The Goblin's Lair" and recentely reverted to its original italian name, registered as copyright) organized its own gaming conventionz as well as cooperating with other organizations and associations in some of the main italian gaming events like ModCon, VerCon, Ludica, Lucca Comics & Games, Mucca Games and more. The whole group is coordinated by a foundation (Fondazione La Tana dei Goblin), responsible for all general issues, supporting the associations activities and managing the common group image and behavious. In less than two years, the foundation brought to life 14 affiliated associations in Italy, all named "La Tana dei Goblin..." and sharing the same logo and website (this one).

Every year, La Tana dei Goblin cooperates with Club TreEmme in Modena, managing the free gaming space at the national games convention ModCon, where its associates are available to freely introduce games, explain rules and organize gaming groups. Besides of this, La Tana dei Goblin yearly organizes a tournament of national relevance named TdG Italian Masters, in order to select the winner team as representative of Italy at European Boardgames Championships. Even though its activities are mainly located in Italy, La Tana dei Goblin is well known even outside its country, as demonstrated by the fact of being invited each year at the Gathering of Friends in USA.

La Tana dei Goblin is also active in the world of producing and distributing games, with agreements and collaborations in order to translate games and rules in italian (many of these are already on the market with the TdG logo). Finally, a convention policy with sellers and shops provides the 1.467 TdG associates with special conditions in order to buy games. After an agreement with Panini Modena, in 2007, the first edition of the “Almanacco dei Giochi da Tavolo” has been published in Italy, a sort of illustrated 300-page catalogue of boardgames, whose contents are entirely based on La Tana dei Goblin reviews.

It's time to present A New World, former title Rise of Nation, to the English language Goblins.

The game was introduced to the memebers of La Tana dei Goblin in the past summer by a couple of articles published in Italian language. It's not time for details and news.......

 writes MadeR

The most important italian fair for comics and games, Lucca Comics & Games, has just ended, so after the necessary reordering of material and ideas, here we are to fill a report full of numbers and thanks. We have had the opportunity to run the "Ludoteca" (a.k.a. Play Area) a section of the free gaming area where we volunteered to lend and explain games to the fair attendees.

La Tana dei Goblin Pisa takes back the record trophy for the Wings of War match with most players: 81

On the bygone Feb 21, 2007 La TdG Pisa set a record that held out for almost one year. On Sunday Jun 14, 2009 La TdG Pisa retooks the title in a sunny afternoon of June, when 81 warlike pilots challenged one another in what will be dubbed as the most crowded match of Wings of War ever played till now.

The new Jolly bill!

Did you self-produce a game requiring money? Or did you buy one of those cheap games not including money bills? Did you ever mind about creating a game asking yourself how to get there some playing money? If you thought that our Goblons were useful, then GOBLONS REVENGE is your ultimate answer!

Goblons, our well-known official playing money already available for free in the Donwloads section, are today available in the completely renewed version named Goblons Revenge, featuring new graphics (using some of our users's avatars), more denominations, and the special "Jolly" that you might always find useful...

 Call for writers

 writes ABPMS

If you are a talented writer with an interest in roleplaying games, then Polymancer Studios may have a long writing project to suit your skills.

The publisher of Polymancer® magazine is ready to launch a completely new and innovative roleplaying game (RPG) rules system. Writers are being sought to create new campaign and source material for it. There is a list of premises and backgrounds that the company would like independent writers to explore.

 Using and sharing our site contents

 Posted by The_Goblin on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at 10:19:18 CEST (1298 reads)

Creative Commons license: Attribution - NonCommercial - ShareAlike, v.2.5As you sure know, anything published on internet websites is usually intended as a common and free resource, excluding commercial websites wich is not the case for La Tana dei Goblin. So, it's natural and obvious that, in the spirit of internet free cooperation and sharing, resources published on a specific website may also be available at other websites, as links, copies or even derivative works. In these situations the simple "netiquette" rules (a sort of good education code for network users) state that source websites and authors for such external contents should always be clearly referred, even though unfortunately this does not happens in every case.

In order to grant the free circulation of anything published at La Tana dei Goblin, at the same time protecting our Association and our authors contributing with their works, we decided to use a well known international license with precise rules about sharing and distribution of internet contents. It's the Creative Commons license, a sort of common code enabling several forms of agreement depending on the level of sharing and protecion needed.

 FFG: Britannia 2 to the print!

 Posted by The_Goblin on Tuesday, October 04, 2005 at 11:13:20 CEST (986 reads)
 writes rporrini

FFG is sending the Brit 2 production work to the printer this Friday (probably today when you receive this). The pieces are square with rounded corners, probably larger than the old pieces, but I cannot tell for sure. The most noticeable change is the inclusion of a very large number of victory point markers.

 Top 50 [28-03-05]

 Posted by sdp on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at 19:07:32 CEST (1666 reads)

Dear game lovers,

The new top 50 has been put online.
(PS This list can also be found on the <http://users.pandora.be/Yvesiezi/> Yvesiezi website (section 'spellen'))
The game database, which I maintain since mid 2002, contains 3273 games.

A game can only be taken into account if it has at least 3 ratings. The ratings come from the following 26 internet sources:

* Internet Top 100
* Board Game Geek (USA)
* Spielphase, Siegpunkt, Ausgepackt, Holgs Spieleteufel, Games we Play, Spielbox, Spieletreff, Hall9000, Spielonaut, Westpark, Michas Spiel, Spiele-Truhe, Boardgame (GER)
* Spieletest (AUS)
* Spellengek & Spel a/d Maas, Hieke's Anderspel (NL)
* Jeux2Rody, Ludo le Gars, Ludigaume, Moissy Cramayel (FRA)
* La Tana dei Goblin (ITA)
* Vlaams Spellenarchief, Speelduivel, My personal ratings  (BEL)

This amounts to exactly 1500 games with 3 or more ratings.

Angelo Porazzi is an Italian game designer who creates and illustrates his self- produced games. He is an artist, a passionate gamer and father of three baby girls who are now his former playtesting group :) Warangel and PeaceBowl are both very well known in Italy, due to Angelo being invited to numerous Italian games conventions where he demonstrates the games. His reports of all these Luding meetings, fairs, and cons are available on his website www.warangel.it, a rich photo album of the Italian gaming world which in the past few years has really been growing.
